E-commerce Shipments

Entry Type 86 is a voluntary entry type for the filing and electronic release of eCommerce shipments that qualify under CBP’s de minimis (<= $800 USD). Shipments qualifying under the CBP de mimimis are also known as Section 321 shipments

A low-value eCommerce shipment that qualifies for Entry Type 86 will need to have a total value of no more than $800 in the country of origin. This $800 can be imported by any individual or company daily. Type 86 entries do not require a CBP customs bond

US Duty Drawbacks

According to the US Customs and Border Protection, a drawback is “the refund, reduction or waiver in whole or in part of customs duties assessed or collected upon the importation of an article or materials which are subsequently exported.” A duty drawback is a rebate you would receive on goods imported into the US.

You have the option to hire a broker to explain what happened regarding the drawback and get permission to re-export your item to get the duty back that was originally paid.

Border Clearances can assist in consulting on how to get the duty back, then facilitate the process. It’s a very detailed process that requires a lot of record-keeping, but we do it easily and for a lower fee than other brokers. We file the refund regardless of the refund amount claimed *minimal fee may apply.

Delayed Duty Payments

A delayed duty payment is just that--an import duty payment that is made later. If for some reason you’re unable to pay the import duty (or duties) on time, Border Clearances is ready to assist you. By making duty payments through us, we ensure the accrual of fines and fees for those who import regularly do not occur.

The interest fees attached to unpaid import duty and liabilities can mount up surprisingly fast. Unfortunately, the US customs service is unforgiving when it comes to late payment fines being applied, but we have a solution for you.

Border Clearances offers a Period Payment Program to take the headache out of calculating the amount of customs import duty to be paid on a day-to-day basis. By paying us a regular monthly payment, we make sure your duty payments are paid on time and in full. We also offer over 45 days of interest-free float to cover import duty payments to make it easy.

Freight Insurance

Freight insurance, also known as cargo insurance, protects your goods throughout the shipment process. Should any of your items be damaged, lost, or stolen, they’re taken care of, so long as you have freight insurance. Freight insurance can be purchased directly from a shipper or a third-party insurer. Border Clearances has formed partnerships with insurance providers so you have one less step to do in making sure your goods are safe as they move across land, air, or sea.

Our relationships with leading insurance providers who recognize our purchasing power in the form of cost reduction allow us to pass great savings on to our clients. We also offer the broadest range of freight insurance products through our partner networks.

We maintain fiercely competitive freight insurance prices, typically 5-10% lower than other freight insurance companies. There’s no cap on the freight insurance value, so we can cover your freight insurance for items of any value that you are importing into the US. To find the freight insurance solution that matches your needs and budget, speak with any one of our team members.

Our freight insurance division also has a website at insureyourfreight.com where you can find more information about how we provide great value for all your freight insurance needs.
